RYA Advanced Powerboat course
This course includes more advanced skills than the level 2 and intermediate courses such as navigation at planing speed, day and night operations, planning for and dealing with the weather and other aspects of skippering powerboats on more challenging passages in coastal waters.
Anybody undertaking this course must have the practical skills of the Intermediate course and knowledge of navigation to at least the standard of the Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased course

Pre-requisites
Minimum age 17
Competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate
Knowledge of the navigation and chart work to the level of Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shore based certificate
It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF operators certificate.
Course content will include:
> Preparation for sea
> Boat handling
> Passage making and responsibility as a skipper
> Pilotage
> Emergency situations
> Night cruising
> Day and night navigation skills
> Use of plotting instruments, GPS and electronic navigation.
Upon successful completion of this course, candidates will receive the RYA Advanced Powerboat Certificate
It is strongly recommended, that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF/SRC operator's certificate.
