RYA Youth Sailing Stage 4

RYA Youth Sailing Stage 4

This two day RYA course, suitable for ages 8 - 16yrs, provides candidates with the skills and knowledge required to sail a double-handed boat as crew or helm and solve a variety of problems afloat.


This course builds on the skills and knowledge gained in RYA Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 sailing courses.
 

After completing this course, candidates are expected to be able to launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, along with the ability to sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions

This RYA Stage 4 Dinghy Sailing course is a part of the RYA's Youth Sailing Scheme.

Course detail

After completing this course, candidates are expected to be able to launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, along with the ability to sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions

Candidates will be assessed throughout the duration of the course and instructors will sign off each skill as they are completed.

Course content will include:

· Rigging
· Launching and recovery
· Sailing techniques
· Manoeuvres in crewed boats
· Recovering a man overboard

Youth Sailing Scheme certificates can be of use in other areas of study or activities such as PE at school, or the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
