RYA Intermediate Powerboat

RYA Intermediate Powerboat

This is a two day course that provides candidates with the skills and knowledge required to be able to plan and execute short coastal passages by day.

The intermediate powerboat course builds on the foundation knowledge gained in the Level 2 Powerboat course and is suited to those wishing to further those skills and for those who already have a knowledge of navigation theory. 

Course detail

The aim of the RYA Intermediate Powerboat course is to teach power boating up to the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day. The course will cover the practical use of pilotage and passage planning by day on coastal waters using both traditional and electronic navigational techniques.

Pre-requisites 

Powerboat Level 2 Certificate

Minimum age 16

Course content will include:

· Planning a day cruise
· Boat preparation
· Boat handling
· Pilotage
· Passage making
· Man overboard

On completion of the course, candidates will receive the RYA Intermediate Powerboat certificate.

It is strongly recommended, but not essential, that candidates hold a first aid certificate and a VHF/SRC operator's certificate and knowledge to the level of Day Skipper Theory.
