RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal Endorsement

The Coastal Endorsement is a standalone 3.5 hour course for those who have already gained their Level 2 Qualification on inland waters.


The coastal endorsement teaches participants how to apply the Level 2 manoeuvres to coastal waters. Those who successfully complete the Powerboat level 2 coastal endorsement will be able to apply for a coastal ICC for Power up to 10m.

Course detail

This Level 2 Powerboat coastal endorsement is ideal for those who have completed a Powerboat Level 2 course on inland waters and wish to gain the coastal certificate.

Course content will include:

> Bylaws and local regulations
> Insurance
> Boat registration schemes
> Pilotage and passage planning
> Charts, chart symbols and buoyage systems
> Tides and tidal streams
> Steering and hand-bearing compasses
> Applying the practical skills of Level 2 to coastal waters

On completion, candidates will receive an RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal certificate. Candidates aged 12 to 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate. All certificates are registered online with the RYA and require a passport sized photo to be provided.
