Emergency First Aid At Work (EFAW) - 8 hour (indoor and outdoor)

This eight hour course provides candidates with the essential skills and knowledge to confidently deliver emergency first aid at work in both an indoor and outdoor environment.

This qualification can be used in a variety of working environments ranging from retail and office environments through to DofE leaders and BEL Expedition or RYA award holders.

The course combines a mixture of practical and theoretical learning, exploring a range of first aid and emergency situations.

Course detail

Suitable for individuals and groups, this first aid course is nationally recognised and OFQUAL regulated. It takes a theoretical and practical approach to learning first aid in a variety of scenarios.

The course is made up of practical assessments that will be carried out informally over the duration of the day, finishing with a quick multiple choice written paper. A course book and handouts will be provided to each candidate.

Course content will include

  • The role of the first aider
  • Incident and casualty assessment in an indoor and outdoor environment
  • Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Care of the unconscious casualty (including fitting), with environmental considerations
  • Choking, external bleeding and shock
  • Minor injuries including; burns, scalds, splinters, bruises, grazes, insect stings and bites
  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia
  • Asthma, anaphylaxis and care of fractures
  • Subjects pertinent to your environment

On completion of the course, candidates will receive the Qualsafe accredited first aid certificate.
